If you’ve watched Quarter Hoarder for a little while you know that Matt may be the newest member of the crew, but it didn’t take him long to make his presence known.
Whether it’s an incredible find or an unforgettable moment, Matt always seems to make a big splash when he joins us for a hunt. Here’s his story in his own words…
Matt’s Story in his own words
Hi I’m Matt Freas and I’m 51 years old, married (laura), with three kids, and retired from local 172 (25 years). My introduction to metal detecting was when I was 14 years old.
My girlfriends father bought me a Radioshack detector (which I still have) and we detected the local parks and such. I detected on and off till 2018, when I took it back up and here we are. My favorite things to find are Spanish reales and colonial era relics, with buttons being at the top. My other hobbies include bottle collecting, fishing and traveling.
